Iran has issued a fierce rebuke to the United States following a series of airstrikes on three of its nuclear facilities, warning of grave consequences for what Tehran describes as an act of aggression and betrayal by President Donald Trump.
Speaking at an emergency Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in Istanbul, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States of violating international law and betraying both diplomacy and the American public.
“The US has crossed a very big red line,” Araghchi said. “This is a grave and unprecedented violation of the United Nations Charter, and Washington will be solely responsible for the dangerous consequences that follow.”
Iran Blames Israel, Slams Trump’s Alignment with Netanyahu
The Iranian government directly tied the US strikes to what it called “full coordination” with Israel. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu praised President Trump’s “bold decision” to obliterate Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, which Israel has long claimed poses an existential threat.
“The United States has acted in collusion with the genocidal Israeli regime,” Araghchi declared. “They have greenlit – if not directly ordered – this illegal war of aggression.”
Iranian officials claim more than 400 civilians have been killed and over 3,000 wounded since Israel began its military campaign against Iran on June 13. In return, Iranian missile strikes have reportedly killed at least 24 Israelis, escalating fears of full-scale regional war.
Iran Says Talks Are Off the Table
President Trump stated that Iran “must now agree to end this war” and reiterated that Iran will never be allowed to develop nuclear weapons. But Tehran insists the nuclear program is purely civilian and any return to negotiations is now “irrelevant.”
“We were in diplomacy, but we were attacked,” said Araghchi. “They have shown they only understand the language of threat and force.”
Iran to Consult Russia, Seeks UN Security Council Emergency Meeting
Foreign Minister Araghchi announced he will travel to Moscow to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin for “serious consultations” on Monday. He also confirmed that Iran has formally requested an emergency session of the UN Security Council, demanding immediate action against the United States.
“The silence of the international community in the face of this blatant aggression will plunge the world into chaos,” Araghchi warned. “We must not return to the law of the jungle.”
Trump Accused of Betraying US Voters
In a scathing personal attack, Araghchi accused President Trump of betraying the very voters who brought him to power.
“He campaigned on ending endless wars. Yet he now bows to the whims of a war criminal, exploiting American lives and resources for Israeli interests.”
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, in response, said private and public diplomatic channels remain open to Iran and expressed hope that Tehran will return to negotiations.
What Happens Next?
The global community is now on edge as tensions between the US, Iran, and Israel threaten to spiral into a wider war. The UN is under pressure to intervene, while leaders in Moscow, Beijing, and Brussels are reportedly holding urgent consultations.
The Middle East stands at a dangerous crossroads, and what unfolds in the coming days could reshape the region’s future — and global peace — for years to come.
